Hello all...Im new to this and really enjoy this hobby. Can someone help me on what mode I should use ? I trypically hunt in custom with the first 4 notches deleted.
Is this a good mode ?
Thanks and Im happy to be aboard on this great site.

If your new to the hobby and 250 set it up like this. 5 bars sensitivity and coin mode. Gain experience and confidence before trying to sift through a lot of trash.

Hi Gary, Welcome to the forum and the hobby. I also use an Ace 250 that I have had for a little over a year. The mode kinda depends on where you are. On a ball diamond for instance, around where the spectators sit is sometimes very trashy with pull tabs, foil wrappers etc. If it becomes too much of a problem I will go to a custom mode like you use. When I move out of the trashy areas, I usually switch to Jewelry or Coin mode. In a tot lot, I always use Jewelry or coin since there is much less trash there. In other words, it kinda depends. Now, I know that the old timers are going to say that if you notch out the pull tabs erc you will miss the gold rings. I know that but sometimes I just get tired of digging pull tabs and can slaw. I'll look for the gold next time. Keep us posted on how you're doing and happy hunting

Yes, Coins mode with 4 or 5 bars sensitivity would be a good place to start. Good luck !!
