Before you buy a Minelab - UPDATE

UPDATE. Got my CTX back on Monday, went out a couple of times this week with it and found 3 silver quarters, 6 silver dimes and a sterling religious medal and chain. Total turn around time was less than 2 weeks. Detector now works perfect. Although my experience at the beginning, being on hold for 20 minutes was not pleasant, everything after that was great. They called me after they received the detector saying I would get a call from the service tech. Although it was a few days, he did call and explain what was up. Detector went out the next day (day before Thanksgiving) and I received it back from IL on Monday morning. I had already gone out on Monday when it arrived and went to a new spot with my old XLT. Did find a few coins, but they weren't very deep. Went back the next day with the CTX and found 4 silver dimes, 3 of which were in a small area I worked the day before with the XLT. It was very thick grass that hadn't been cut for months and getting the extra depth from the CTX really made a difference. I'm sold.

I just had a problem with my 5000 a few weeks ago called Minelab they gave me a number to return it for repair. I sent it in with tracking number and they received it that afternoon got a call to tell me they had received it. The one thing I did do was save and email from one that I had received earlier telling me that one of my new detectors had been registered. A week later I sent a reply back asking if they had got to my 5000 yet. Got a reply back that day saying it was fixed and being sent to shipping to be returned to me. My 5000 is still under warranty and I am very pleased with there service. Most of my detectors are Mine labs :clapping:

Glad to hear you also had a good experience. I've had White's machines for 30 years and never had to send one back for service so I don't know what to compare it to. The only problem I ever had with my XLT was the trigger switch which took me all of 10 minutes for me to replace myself. I was surprised to have a problem with the CTX after only about 7 months of use. Glad I still had the XLT to use although it doesn't go as deep.

Good to hear!
