.... I'd sure like to find out what these brass things went on. I've found about 10 or so scattered around the farm here. Most have been found in the area's where the army was training in 1903. Cartridge casings I've found in the area are all dated 1903. CW relics are also found here. A camp was here in the winter of 1861 so I can't rule out these being CW era. I've posted these on many forums, including here, and nobody really knows for sure what they could have been a part of. I'll post them again since miracles do happen occasionally. Someone.... free my tortured soul!!!

Some are found broken at the hinge/pivot point.

Obviously you pushed this with your thumb. It's not off of a lighter, or at least any I've researched.

This part fits into the other part, like the top picture.

Not easy to find either. In MINT condition, a $80 US item. In relic, maybe $40.

Thanks Vulch! Glad I finally got that info. I dig one about every time I got out!

Good call Vulch! I see you get around too. Don't I see you at Gunboards.com?
Here is some pics of the various Krag sight covers from http://www.kragcollectorsassociation.com/
Maybe you have found some of the others Wildcat?
