Before and After Using McDaves Tip

I had given up on cleaning these silver sixpences (found using the A T Pro) until I read McDaves post" New Discovery"

I mixed the Baking Soda into a paste and got busy with the toothbrush, I was amazed with the results .

Thanks again Dave for the great tip.

Quite a difference....I'm glad it worked for you. :super:

That is the worst thing you can do to coins that have collectors value, NEVER scrub a coin and baking soda is also bad..

These coins only have scrap value and would not advise anyone to use this method on any valuable / collectable coins.

I have never advised anyone to use this process on rare or key-date silver coins.

Either way, as I have sincerely learned recently, they are your coins and you can do whatever you want to them. Just use common sense.

Yeah I use the baking soda method as well......just to clean up those sentimental coins etc that arent worth anything. Thats pretty much all Ive found though : ) Im still waiting to find that one special coin.

I was watching a Youtube video last night where a guy said he used toothpaste to clean a Merc he had found. Interesting. Probably a little less abrasive than other methods.
