Well today we were trying to open up a new site and he got a signal and low and behold there was a yellow jacket nest where the target was he said he saw bees flying out the hole but it was to late by then they blasted him. Both times we had to fish his detector away from the bees with a long stick. BTW I found a thimble and he found 2 buttons. Then we almost got into another nest the one the tree picture. He said the hornets were way worse than the yellow jackets. The hornets also got to keep a 60.00 lesh shovel well at least till the cold weather arrives he marked the spot on his gps. I might get the nest when we go back in the winter.

Bad hornets & bees - glad you were not allergic to them, man something like this can sure ruin a good time while out dirt fishing.

Im gonna start carrying benedryl just for moments like this. Last week we hunting for an old homesite and were going throuh some lowland in thick brush head high in someplaces and he started freaking out he was in front and I thought a snake had got him . It was the white faced hornets he actually hit the bush the nest was in about waist high and they come out after him like F 15 fighter planes .

Ouch! That sounds like some rough hunting you two are doing. It looks like in the pictures you are not having to fish your XP Deus away from the bees. :)

correct I was about 20 ft feet from him so they didnt hone in on me and when the hornets got him I was about 10 ft behind him and he ran past me and the hornets kept chasing him and went by me Ive been lucky.

Gotta be careful, there was a hiker out here in the Phoenix area at a park that was swarmed and killed by Africanized bees...

Hiker dies after 1,000 bees attack at Usery Mountain
A 23-year-old Louisiana man has died after being attacked by bees Thursday morning as he and a friend were hiking within Usery Mountain Park in Mesa, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said.

A medical exam determined the man had been stung more than 1,000 times, officials said.

Another hiker and park employees found him on the ground covered in bees. They tried to approach him, but the aggressiveness of the bees forced them to stay back, the Sheriff's Office said.

We were at a Boy Scout camp when I was younger and playing snuff the candle (like capture the flag) in the dark...I hid behide a bush and the next thing I know... I feel a stinging (punn intended) pain in my chest area...I ran back to camp to find myself with 5 big bumble bees on my shirt.
