Last weekend, I went detecting with Greg (Mountain Man), and he got a signal with his MXT that was deep. He was getting a good response, but I was unable to pick up anything with the DFX, even in pinpoint mode. Greg finally quit digging for the target after about 2 feet.
So today, I have been messing with my settings on my DFX. I would go out into the pasture, and see how they worked, then come back, and reprogram it a little different, and repeat the process. The picture below is just some of the stuff I've found today. I didn't include four old plow points, and a lot of big iron. Best finds in the photograph are the two flat buttons. There is a hunk of lead from somebody's "mines", and two corroded pennies, probably wheatbacks.
After spending several hours today tweaking, I've just about come full circle from where I started from, as far as my settings. I still feel confident that the DFX will let me know if there's something good under the coil. All this stuff was 4 to 10 inches deep (the ring). I can't help but wonder if Mountain Man didn't leave a cannon ball in the ground.
