Been Taking A Break! Today's Gold and Silver

From my last gold find of 6-15-13 I hunted 36 hours without a hint of gold in my sifter.

I hunted 8-27-13 for the last time until today as workload, family commitments, and life in general got in the way of my desire to water hunt.

Since I live near my hunting grounds I have been monitoring the shifting sands watching for a chance to hunt when exposed areas would allow for a greater possibility of success.

44 degrees F. with water temps in the mid-40s, thermal undies, 7Mil neoprene waders and a nylon wind breaker with a hood would keep me comfy in the misty rain so I decided to gear up and go water hunting.

At noon today Diablo, Mr. Dual Field and I wadded into Long Island Sound and started recovering deep targets from the sandy bottom where the sand had been too deep to find much of anything the last time I hunted there.

3.5 hours later I had recovered 9-copper cents, 2-clad dimes, 5-clad quarters, 1-nickle, 3-bullets, the end of a silver spoon handle, a Merc., a Standing Liberty quarter, a silver ring, a junk ear stud, and a 27.7Gram, 10K universty ring from 1960.

39 targets recovered for a total.

It feels good to be able to share this with you Friends,

CJ

That was a good hunt. Lots of goodies and gold to boot. Congrats !

Sounds like you had fun CJ!!:wiggle: It's really nice to return to metal detecting after having to take extended breaks and when you find gold, it's the icing on the cake!!! Congrats again and G.L. & H.H.

Many thanks for your kind words Friends!!:)

I've found and returned a few class rings over the years and never found a chunk like this one!

There are no inscriptions of initials or name so I guess I'll just have t keep this one!!

Well done CJ a great hunt, nice big ring! My girlfriend wanted to know how your detector and scoop got there names please? Cheers :)

Diablo is the name of the scoop I have used since 4-12-12. It is a prototype that is being tested in some of the most difficult conditions a scoop can encounter and as of the posted hunt has recovered 4,485 targets!! It's light weight, with a stainless bucket and a fiberglass handle. The gentleman who designed and built this prototype may one day produce it for sale, but for the moment is enjoying the developmental process.

Mr. Dual Field is my water machine since 2009 and has produced so many golden finds that I now respectfully call it Mr.!!

This is what it looks like after I modified it to suit my hunting style and needs.

GL&HH Friend,

Great to see you back swinging and looking forward to your posts. Wish I could say it's been 36 hours of hunting since my last gold, but it's been WAY longer than that - ha ha
