I like using other detectors too to try out for myself and been using my Fisher F-75 mostly, but had to try my GT at one site to see if I missed anything. This site is a vacant lot and spend 2 hours last Saturday at it and got 1 wheatie, a Roosevelt pin and a nice sterling silver ID bracelet and some misc items and quite a few rusty bottle caps and pieces of tin cans.

Now I went back to check this area with my GT and got a rusty bottle cap that fooled me and a few deeper alum cans. I wasn't there 10 minutes and the wife calls and need me to come home in 30 minutes and i was 27 miles away. Worked back to the car and got the 41 S wheatie, then the 1892 O barber dime and the "Dr Bell's Pine Tar Honey cures coughs" token. This was all in 30 minutes I had to hunt. Got to go back and wonder why I never got these with the F-75 as I should have. Maybe this is the case of knowing your detector and I am still in the learning stage with the F-75, while the GT I know well I feel.

Rick, great finds,I'm going to do a little hunting this weekend. The detector I'll use a XS Sovereign that started out as just a clean control box I bought off of Ebay from a guy in the UK. At this point I added a straight shaft, Tornado 8 inch coil, two rechargeable battery packs, charger, alkaline pack,XS2 550 meter, and a sun ray probe, which should be delivered in time for the weekend.I have used this unit briefly, and now see the possibilities. With the ID Edge, Excel, and C$ Class room cancelled does this indicate a lack of interest in sales or a end to production?

Mine I built is a XS also and I put it on a straight shaft and added a remote pinpoint switch and have a Sun Ray DTI 2 meter on mine and no probe yet, but did put my famous 8 inch coinsearch coil on it that I cut the cable down on and has got me some unbelievable depth. I have 3 rechargeable packs for mine. Now that I got it built I want to sell it as I have a GT, the Explorer SE and the new Fisher F-75 to use, so I don't need the XS as I like my GT too much.
I think why the ID Edge and the Excel forums were moved to the Fisher Forum was because with the new F-75 it needed a Classroom as it has been a big hit for some.

Minelab says it don't, Ralph at Sun Ray says it shouldn't make a difference, but to me I seem to hear some of the deep ones better. After I did this coil I went back to the same area where I had worked heavy and didn't get any more signals with the stock length cable. First day I got a silver Rosie and a merc and a few Wheaties, second day another merc that seem to be deeper. It seem to run smoother too for me. This is the coil I used on that challenge I did and was able to get Wheaties as deep as 12 inches in a park and even picked some silver up too, but had to go super slow and listen real close to the threshold change.
Like I say maybe it is just me, but when you see results what are you to believe?

I was never a fan of the BBS 10 that come on the XS2 and XS2a and why I used my 8 inch Coinsearch coil as I felt it worked better. I also used the S12 too that did good for me. Now the Elite and GT came out with the 10 inch Tornado coil and I find I like these coils and they do OK for me.

I think that it reduces cable cross talk and external noise pickup. This would reduce interference that makes it harder for the detector to find weak targets.

You may just have the Oldest Dime at out meeting coming up this friday at your Cafe. Also may take a 1st on Token too and possibly a 1st with your 1921-s Buffalo Nickel. You sure are starting out the year right for as little as you have gotten out and I just hope one thing, that you pull a Franklin Half at that Huge Lot since I got you permission to detect it. Continued Success Old Buddy, Good Luck and HH.

That is the one half you need to find as you have the rest. It seem like the last 2 spots you told me about you get the walkers and I get the Franklin half's. Just across the street is where I got my first Franklin half back in 1975 from this lot. If there is a Franklin half I will try to leave it for you, I want a Barber half like you get.
See you at the meeting on Friday.

I got out with the Ace 250 so that I could learn it, but yesterday we went to island park and I just had to use my GT. Like you I know this machine better. Although we never found much other than new change.

I read this daily and certainly miss the posts when its slow. Where is everybody? Hopefully they're not all trying new detectors....but if that's that case...I know they'll be back....been there.... done that.... more times than I care to mention.

I keep trying to find one better too, but always seem to come back to my Sovereigns and no matter which new detector I try I will always keep at least one Sovereign around. With the Sovereigns I have to have a good 180 meter with the Sun Ray DTI the preferred one and a S1 probe.
I was out today again with my GT where I had been with the F-75 and didn't find much, but the GT got me 1902 V nickle that looks like it has no wear and a 1903 IH that must have been lost when new as it is very detailed. I also got 5 older wheat pennies too.
I was also able to find out info from talking to the people in this town the ID bracelet I found with the F-75 last Saturday the guy lived in the house that was on this lot. He has since passed away as he was over 80 when he died, so this may be older than i thought as I thought it was.

Ron,

I had one for a while on one of the trade ins and it seem to be a good meter and I had no problem with it. If I remember right this meter has a separate battery and has to be turned on unlike the Sun Ray or Minelab meters. Other than that I felt it was a good meter.

Rick,I saw one on ebay yesterday thinking it was a Sunray,A Buy it now OF 60.00 so I bought it,and after a little research I discovered it was a Winburn.Anyway, when it comes in I'll compare it with the 550 and keep the better meter. Thanks Ron

I'm Jealous:yikes:
