...while I've been on IR. A good friend just bought a house in town and look what I found. I helped him with some chores to pay my "exclusive rights to search" fee and am hoping to get over there soon to do my first-ever private home search. I'm posting a few photos to get any input or advice you may want to give. Photo #1 is the first thing to tip me off that there may be some stuff here a lot older than the house ( built around 1960 ). The small stem wall foundation, which has since been turned into a sandbox is obviously very old to my trained eye ( worked in the trades 30 yrs ) from the condition of the concrete. It has steel rebar or bolts cut flush near the corners so it definitely was built as a structure foundation initially. It's roughly 9'x7'. My first guess is possibly a blacksmiths hearth. Does anyone recognize the shape ? Picture #2 shows, what appears to be, an old horse tie ( not sure what it's called ) and you can see the foundation about 15'-20' in the background. ( That's my friend in the background christening the house with his first beer ) The dirt area between the two is also a very low, prime spot. Picture #3 is an area of hedge and shrub that he's going to completely clear off for his hot tub ( California !?! ). You can tell by the plants that they've been there awhile so I'll be right behind him with my detector. The last picture is of two old marbles i found while scouting the area. One I found on the surface of the sand-box and the other I found on the surface between the plants that are going to be removed. I see that as a sign. One last and possibly important note. An old bottle digger I spoke with claims that this entire neighborhood was once a horse track back in the 1800's sometime. About 150' away are some very old hedges ( 15' tall and 10' thick ) that surround a property reported to be the spot where the bleachers once stood. To say I'm a little excited is an understatement. This property is huge by California beach town standards and I have free reign to search day or night while they move in over the next month. Any ideas and tips will be appreciated and I'll post again after I get a chance to hunt my first "Good" site. Thanks
