I called one guy, and made sure it was OK to bring out of state Yankees onto their property to detect. Got a yes from him. Then today, my wife Sharon made a cinnamon roll cake for Robert. Robert is the guy who owns the land where I've been finding most of the Civil War relics on. So today I drove out there, and gave him the cinnamon roll, told him I had some (Yankee) friends coming from Colorado staying a few days, and asked if he would mind if I brought them there detecting... well, he was having trouble talking with a mouthful of cinnamon roll and throwing up his arms, but I think he said yes, we'll see!
While I was there, I detected for an hour, found 2 dropped .58 cal Civil War bullets, a modern hand gun bullet, a copper do-hicky and some ever-present and must-dig shotgun brass (could've been a small or broken button, or a myriad of other things). So at least I know that there are still some relics to be found, its a big place. I probably haven't covered 10% of it. The way I look at it; a bullet could have been a button, a breast plate, a buckle or even General Lee's own sword! So, if we take the batteries out of Pam's detector without her knowing it, Butch might to be able to find something.
