Wow, what an awesome forum, with great member support :)

I've spent the last week reading the most recent 30+ pages of posts, so don't expect the usual newbie redundancy ;)

I found a great deal on a barely used MXT outfit, complete with extra coils, digging tools & accessaries. Reading here gave me the confidence to go ahead & make the purchase, & I'm *very* glad I did.

I've been swinging an Ace250 for the last year, it's a fun starter machine with good features & performance, but man, the MXT is a dream machine. I've had it for a week, & with the help of all of the great info here I think that I'm way beyond novice with it already. Gonna try a little nugget sniping this weekend in Motherload Country, & hit the Central Coast beaches & a campground there in a couple of weeks. Inbetween those dates, school gets out. I've been PTO Treasurer four years now for the 1865 school that my daughter goes to, & I get exclusive MD pass there during the summer months :)

Man this is a great forum :bouncy:

Where are you located? I am from Lodi, Ca now living in Nevada. I had family in Railroad Flats in the Motherload area. Welcome to the MXT. Sounds like you got a great deal on that MXT and setup btw.

I got the MXT as a first machine, and it is still smarter than I am 4 years later.

What coils did you get with it?

Something troubles me about that school, though. Are you saying you would have somebody kicked off the grounds for metal detecting? To me, detectrists should stick together, as there are many people out there than cannot stand to see others having a good time, and use anything in their power to put a stop to it.

You have benefitted in other MXT users being gracious enough to share their learning experiences. I don't want to hunt your school, but I would hope you would not stop anybody who did. I would be willing to bet someone has already been there anyway.

Now that you have the MXT you are going to have to post some of your finds. Welcome to the MXT forum. HH Dennis in Idaho

I'm at the south end of the central valley, about 1/2 way between Bakersfield & Fresno. We go camping at Columbia several times every year, there are several places around there that are open to public for prospecting.

I got the standard 950 Eclipse, a 6x10 Eclipse DD & a 4x6 Eclipse DD Shooter, all with covers.

No, I didn't say anything about having other detectors kicked off. It's a small school, very remote and in full lockdown to prevent vandalism. Many of the staff members at this school went there from K-8th grade when they were kids. They grew up, became teachers and returned (some worked their way up to Vice Principal, Principal & Superintendant). In fact, their parents and grandparents went to that school before they were even born. You'd pretty much have to know someone & be well known in the area to get your foot in the gate. With several generations of history, they kinda treat the place like sacred ground.

Anyway, yeah, the place has been detected before, quite some time back (decades ago).
