ONLY 1 coil? A 5.3 Eclipse because you can hunt non-trashy sites with a 6

A lot of thought went into designing the MXT and other detectors including the coil choice. The stock coil is a good general use coil for most users in most situations. If you are talking about only one "more' coil in addition the the stock, I would choose a small one for the trashy areas. Which one is not that important, they all do their job well, some slightly better than others depending on your usage, in your ground.

I'll have to agree with Monte, the 5.3 is a very versatile and useful coil. Fortunately,. in real life, we can use more than one coil. I like the 6X10DD and the 4X6 shooter quite well, also.

I hunt a lot of woods and open fields for Civil war and colonial relics. Not much trash until you get near a foundation. My primary coil NOW is the new 12X15 SEF butterfly. Even in some what trashy spots if you swing REALLLLLLL slow you still can pick in between trash. In real bad areas I use the 6X10 coil. Just my way of detecting!
