No surprise, hardly anyone on the beach. Targets when there are any must be very deep. On top of that the sand scratcher came a swept everything as far as I can see. Best action is in where the waves break on the beach. Also high up where the scratcher can't hit. It is a challenge and that's why it's called hunting. Another good thing, a couple shallow cuts are showing up with a few coins bleeding up. As with you guys "Gotta believe the next target is the good one. Having fun.

Hi John, I have hunted right behind them and still found coins, They only go about 2" deep. If things are on top of the sand it will pick it up.

I'd like to be the guy who cleans out the sand scratchers.........uh, I mean, sort thru and properly recycle what it picks up!

I hope you like dirty diapers! :lmfao: They probably outnumber the keepers by 100:1.

and they can get down to 8 inches. The deeper they go the more fuel the towing vehicle uses though and I spoke with a guy driving the tractor pulling one here and he said they usually only set up for 4 inches. In this economy (NOT a political statement, the economy stinks and it doesn't matter why, it just does and everyone is watching the $$$ right now) fuel costs are a huge concern.

looks like the screen size on those machines is 3/8". wonder if they just dump the scratchin's into the local landfill.....?

They run them up here on Lake Mich beaches, so I would try to get there early enough to beat them...have learned they dont pick up coins, and they set shallow so they can cover lots of sand just getting surface trash. The coins go right between the tines. The bummer is, its nice to get to a beach before they roll, so you can see the people patterns and "who was here" kind of evidence to focus the hunt. Especially important is when you find a spot that looks like somebody was scratching around in the sand in desperation! Find us something good Dancer!:clapping:
