Been hunting 15years. Never owned a Fisher, but always interested in CZ3D

So, I got a thing about nickels being the path to gold. I might have some old questions from a new prospect.
So , why did they start making the new Cz3d less capable than the old. ( having to send them for tweaking ?
So a new Cz3d out of a box, is it a nickel grabber or does it need sent back out?
Ok, there are always rumors, I read one recently that Fisher might make the cz3d waterproof.
Another question, a hot cz3d , is it just as hot on say gold rings.

I got 15 years experience. Hunting parks, beaches, wading. Another company.
Even hunt with a pulse induction on some park areas. So not scared of trash. Now these are modern nickels I'm picking up. Just using them to hopefully hit a gold ring once in awhile.
Always interested in a nickel grabber.

For your info the foil area on any detector is the hot area for gold CZ's included.
Also few gold rings come in as a nickel but the average CZ is one of the best nickel units on the planet percentage wise when it says nickel is usually is..
Doubt if they will make it waterproof as will cost the consumer $200.00 from what I have seen and heard..
I think what you are confused with the CZ3D differs from the previous CZ's it should be calibrated to go a little lower to catch the older nickles such as buffalo and shield
in enhanced mode and was not always thus the nickel problem relative older nickles not the Jefferson..

Therover presents percentages from a standard CZ...Imagine as the nickel range in the CZ3D is calibrated a little lower in advanced mode one would pick up more gold rings in the advanced mode of the CZ3D in advanced mode...Always dig a foil to nickel bounce with a CZ...good chance for a gold ring....

Dan...correct about the 3D vs standard CZ. I don't watch the meter when hunting with my CZ. I tone hunt when using my CZ as I have it on a straight shaft mounted upside down and the meter facing out so I can't see it anyway. Mid tones on the CZ and low mid/high mid on the CZ3D are the tones where the gold rings will show up for the most part. The mid to high nickle bounce is a good one to investigate as the bigger class rings can render that scenario. All the smaller rings, pendants and chains I have found with my CZ's were mid tones only.

The theover, that's a very interesting graft there. With the machine s I'm using now, I'll scoop a lot of coil signals. But mud hunting, it don't take long before I start passing them up. Guess that's why my best gold ring year is 5.

The calibration problem was late Fisher labs and early 1st Texas because of sloppy practices before 1st Texas took over operations.
The early 1st Texas cz3ds weren't that hot because the tuning paperwork got lost in the shuffle and until that was rectified they were so so and had to be tuned. But per Dave.J there good to go now,so I will be buying me one before production ends as I have yet found a more powerful and versital machine.
They like silver and gold equally.

CZ-3D's are really hot on mid tone targets and will find a lot of rings.

On my 3D a woman's 14k ring comes up as foil within 6", as a nickel further out.
A nickel comes up as a nickel closer than 6", as a square tab further out. (Enhance mode)
