I got a call from my Pastor, asking me to come and help take care of one of the oldest members (91) of our Church. She had gone down, and was expected to pass away. When I got to her place, her daughters were trying to get her to comply with going into a nursing home, and she was refusing to go. They all lived out of town, two out of state. None of them could stay and take care of her, nor did they have the experience to give their mother the aggressive care she needed. They couldn't deal with her, and that is about the best I can say about them.
Would I come and stay with her? No way! Her home was a rabbit warren that I didn

around who would do what you have done.
God bless
All the best

and at our church, the deacons adopted a couple of "shut ins" a piece not long ago.We call evry couple weeks send them cards just because and ask if there is anything we can help them with.
We're just getting started good and I can tell already we've gotten a lot closer to them.
I will keep you and your church member in my prayers!
God Bless you,

is someone like you around if I ever make it to that age. I truly, TRULY, cannot imagine any daughter or son, for that matter, not taking care of their mother! I miss mine so desparately, and gladly did everything for her I could when she was here. She was a stroke victim, but she was a fighter! Those daughters ought to be ashamed of themselves, and I know God put another star in the crown he has waiting for you Mary! You are so caring and unselfish! We need more people around like you, that are willing to go the extra mile! God Bless!

loved being taken care of by Mary??? A trip to the beauty shop was a real treat for her, I'm sure, and sometimes it just takes knowing SOMEONE cares, that they matter to someone who believes in them. I love older folks,... they have so many stories to tell, and often just need an ear!

looked at the address. We have another Mary reading!!
I sure want to welcome any and all newbies that feel they would like to post.
Just come and read if you want to but it sure gets easy to post a little about your life, once you jump in and it seems to be rather therapeutic too!!

My mother, as I have posted many times, will be 89 this year and she has always been healthy.
The still has every tooth she was born with and drives her car, even finds her way home She does not drive at night though.
She sure has her aches and pains but she rarely conplains about them. She bitches about everything else on the planet but age has nothing to do with that. She always has
For unselfish reasons, I hope she goes before my brother or I. I saw what it was like for her to outlive my youngest brother and it was a terrible thing. I am planning on her making it to a hundred so I gotta make it to 75 or more

you look very healthy! It's great your mom is so active for her age. If I live to be that old, that's the way I want to be, too. Your mom has suffered a lot already though, if she outlived one of her children! That's just not right. I don't know how people manage after something like this.
I still want you to send some photos of her flowers in the yard. I just went yesterday and bought a hundred dollars worth of bulbs. I think I am going to wait just a couple of more weeks though, to make sure we won't be getting any more frosty mornings!

it will be a while before we start any planting around here. Still winter
I have to get some in as soon as possible this year so I can get this place sold.

all welcome Mary#2! Come on back, and tell us a story!

were my mother's favorite flower, along with the gardenias. They smell as sweet as the gardenia, too. They usually wait until around Easter, but our weather has been so unpredictable, I hope the frost doesn't get them! It's doubtful, but stranger things have happened. I remember snow on my birthday before!
