Been a White's user for 9 yrs, had the classic ID and now DFX, looking for a new brand what are your thought b/w Minelab quatro and Tejon? Thanks!

One is unmetered one is metered. Have you ever used a non-metered detector? Depth is comparable with a slight edge to the Quatro on silver and an edge to the Tejon in the lower ranges of non-ferrous targets such as gold, brass etc., weight and balance definitely goes to the Tejon. Target separation is better with the Tejon. Target acquisition speed to the Tejon. And the price... well for the cost of the Quatro you can buy the extra coils that you will need and the Tejon.
The question that still remains however is can you adept to a detector that does not have a meter?

I agree w/pap. Also check on operating the Tejon, I understand it is very good but takes a while to learn it's languagae.

brandon,

I own a Quattro and a Tiger Shark so I will comment on the Quattro. I do not find it as balanced as my other machines, by that I mean it wears me out more than my other units. If you are going to work a area that requires changing coils it is best to have a extra shaft for that coil. I have the small exellerator coil for the Quattro and I have to tie a string on the coil wire and feed it into the shaft to the wire does not get stuck, this is a pain as I do not have the extra shaft. I like the performance of the Quattro so I overlook it's faults. As far as Tesoro goes I love my Tiger Shark, even with the controls mounted on the shaft I can swing this all day, it is very well balanced and love the warranty. I can't give any specific comparison to the other Tesoro machines.

Hi everyone and I own a Quattro and enjoy using it if I'm not in a hurry. I use the Coiltek Platypus and it seems to be a good combo. It can go pretty deep. I love the high tone on good targets also. But I also use the Tejon and it will definitely sniff out the coins. The dual-disc is really handy on the Tejon. I am going to start using the DeLeon and see what it can do. I'm not sure why the Tejon seems to be a difficult instrument for some people to learn. I must say that Tesoro has quite a lineup to choose from. I love that Golden uMax!!! Sounds like you are very satisfied with the Tiger Shark, Davy, that is good to hear. Actually the only Tesoro I don't hear much about is the Sand Shark and my understanding is the coil construction for this machine is not too good. Just thought I would ramble a bit. God Bless all.

I used the Classic I'D. for many years and never really used the display, also I can't really trust the display on the DFX as I hunt in areas where iron makes it pretty much obsolete. I'd rather see it with my ears and sounds like the Tejon has some pretty unique language from some of the research I've done. Thanks for the post.
