~Beautiful Semi Key 1920-D SLQ~

Saturday I met a new friend (Micah) and we went door knocking. First house we stopped at we got permission, I was getting no deep signals at all, no wheats, nothing. Then I get this 8" deep signal 09-47, dig down and see a black quarter, I say to myself "ah come on, not a clad quarter".....I pull it out and can see the eagle on the back, sweet! it's not clad its a black SLQ!

This thing was pure black, even after rinsing it. So I gave it three 45 second electolysis treatments, the black just rolled off, I think it turned out pretty well! What do you think it would grade at??

That was the best find of the day, another yard I got 2 mercs and a wheat, and another yard I got a merc couple wheats and an indian, the buckles were in the backyard at one of the places...lol Not sure what the little shield is? It says S and A on both sides. Great weather and hunting with a new friend, can't beat that!

Nice finds Terry. My first SLQ was a '20 d as well, though I can just make out the date. Thanks for the pictures. The only place I've found "black silver" is in a park that has a lot of ground moisture in dark soil.

The SLQ turned out real nice............they're hard to find with good readable dates on the early issues...........I'd say a solid VF, maybe low XF.

Great find........Hawkeye Jim.

Beautiful SLQ!

Fine to VF.....just because you just go on forever with the Silver. She's a Beauty, and the 3 Mercs aren't bad looking either...and the Injun. :) You guys must have some great soil up that way, I see so many nice ones.
