Beautiful place but no MDs allowed in water.

Went by a new park I located on line, it is close to the Marina I keep my boat at, so on my way back from the boat today I checked it out. The county park ranger told me I could detect in the park with permit, but no one is allowed to detect in the water. Yet they allow rafting and snorkeling, go figure. County owns park the state owners the river. He said it was an environmental issue. So I was disappointed, but went to look it over anyway. Talked to some people there and they say in the summer the park closes midday do to the crowds. The river has a boardwalk that runs along side of the river for 3/4 miles with exit stairs in two places. (I would love to hunt both exits) Here is the spin.

THESE TURKEYS DIDN'T SEEM TO WILD

TYPICAL SIGN YOU FIND AT MOST PARKS IN FLA.

THANKS FOR LOOKING AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

bda, this park is about 60 miles from Lady Lake, over toward Orlando, Sanford area. I don't know of any river close to Lady Lake you can raft on. The closest I know of is the Rainbow River, 35 miles away. I hunt there on a regular basis. HH

Great photos, PaPa-Joe. Too bad you can't hit the water, but give the park a try. Can't figure the environmental issue though. btw, what camera are you using? Those really are very nice photos. Those turkeys must have gotten somewhat domesticated. Around here they spook very easily. I would never be able to get a photo that close without a good telephoto lens. Hope you and yours have had a great holiday season and the new year will bring good health, happiness and great finds your way.

My camera is a Pentax optio w 30 good for 10 ft. underwater. works well for what I use it for Metal detecting pictures. I am guessing the Turkeys see allot of people they never did run off, were still there after 30 minutes, when I came back to my Jeep. HH

I worry more about the sharks on the east coast than the Gators. If you hunt fresh water in Fl. there are going to be Gators most of the time. This River has water temp of 68 year round, and the Gators don't really care for that. You just have to keep a lookout for them in the warmer water. Sometimes you get a stiff neck when you see one in the distance then you lose him. They say more people die from Frostbite than gators and sharks, hazards of the hobby. HH

Try Looting at night?

Just got back from Moms...The turkeys eat/destroy everything....not even afraid of the dog!

Great pictures!
We enjoyed them.

No md in water.

And other recreational people can frolic?
Sounds like gubment wisdom to me.

This would be a fine project for a team of retired individuals to undertake.
Get OUR land back!

It's a simple process that becomes extremely complicated, and, IMO very entertaining, enlightening, and educational.

Walk directly into the water with metal detector to recover the heirloom ring your granddaughter has lost.
Recover everything you can, and identify it. Store it.

Continue until accosted by enforcement and explain yourself.

Accept a citation with the courtesy due any person in public service.

An individual has no standing at law unless damaged.

Your harmless activity was halted, and you have been ordered to appear before a jucicial officer.
You are now damaged, and have standing before the court to begin a claim.

All lower courts shall find you guilty as charged.
Appeal each decision until you get an appropriate ruling.

Grounds for appeal would be the law, statute, or ordinance constitutes an unlawful taking of property in a discriminatory fashion.

If other recreation minded folk are allowed, so you should be.

All court cases and records are public record.
You can ask any court clerk to look at one for the proper format used in your location. Copy it.

Years gone past I very much enjoyed researching caselaw.
One learns to appreciate wisdom of judicial decisions.

And, it becomes blatant that many of our statutes and ordinances are merely for control by authority figures who have usurped that power. The bureaucratic branch of gubment is the fastest growing and wields illegitimate power harshly unless corrected.

One must be ever vigilant to retain freedom and liberty.
