Beautiful Day at Bentonville Battle site but not much luck

Spent almost 8 hours hunting the Bentonville, NC battle field on a friends field and woods, but sadly found almost nothing. My friend using an AT PRO found a bayonet, but it turned out to be from re-enactors. We also found a lit of percussion caps, but they were also probably from re-enactors. We each found some shot, old shotgun shells, and camp lead, but that was about it besides the trash. We were both hunting in all metal. Strangely, adjusting the ground balance made no difference at all when I raised and lowered the coil. Is there something wrong or is this because the soil was very sandy and poor in minerals?

Thanks for any advice.
