Went to Ocean Beach Park, New London Ct. Met one other detectorist using a White's DFX, he was new to the game and was digging every signal because he didn't know what the sounds and numbers ment. Found a charming little charater, a cement truck hot wheels, one brass token, 3 sinkers and a couple of pull tabs.

Sounds like you had A good time! Thats what I enjoy about detecting,Meeting people while doing what you like best Don Tyler

Looks like your day was pretty much like mine only I didn't find any toys, lol. I was on Folly Beach today, just south of Charleston, SC and they recently finished a beach renourishment project. Pretty much kills it for detecting for awhile. New London's a great place, I went to Sub School there in 1974. Had a lot of great times up there. Do you use a DFX and how do you like it on the beach? Have a great weekend.

That is actually a good sign. Tells me you are gettin' down to it where the gold lives, as the specific gravity of lead and gold are similar. They both have that sweet soft tone through the phones too!

For a small state our soils and sands very greatly, and sometimes you get different readings in different conditions. New London is undergoing a huge revitalization, since we have two of the worlds largest casinos close by they bring in high speed ferry service from Martha's Vineyard and the islands, regular ferry service, high speed rail service from NYC right into New London and then bus them up to the casinos. The Indian's are pouring a lot of funds into the whole area. There is also a Hollywood type movie studio and theme park that is supposed to be built on the grounds of the old mental hospital in Norwich, they are finalizing all the details now.

Do you mean did I freeze my buns off?........no, it was really nice. Our sands warm up in the sunshine and although the air temp supposedly was 53* it felt more like 70*.

Far cry from when I was there last. But it's been a lot of years. Then again, Charleston isn't what it used to be either. I guess progress is good but I miss the old days. Sure had more good places to crank up the old machine back then. Have a great weekend.
