Beautiful 1834 Large Cent @ 4"! +silver & Flat Buttons

Back out at the old home from the 1700's today, and in the freezing weather, I found the back foundation wall. I worked along it for a little and my first great find of the day was an 1834 Large Cent at 4"! I hit some bricks, so maybe it was turned over at some point when they demolished the home, or it was always stuck there right at the wall. Who knows. I couldn't believe how shallow it was. Just as I started to record it with my camera some clown approached me and told me I should go "hunt by the steps (way off in the distance)" because he lost his lighter there. Apparently a really nice lighter. ugh. I really don't like it when people bother me when I'm hunting, and for a lighter? Seriously? It's not that nice guy. Move along.

Continuing the hunt I found a few nice Flat Buttons. I broke the loop off the back of the smaller one while cleaning it. I hope someone can ID it from the writing on the back. Also found a 1941-D Mercury dime for my only silver on the day, but couldn't be happier. The Largie is in outstanding condition. Pics and video below. Enjoy all.

NOTE: Was hunting in my Trashy Park Mode using Auto +1 today. Anything above that was too much in that soil. Really dirty, and littered with nails.

Nice finds! Love the largie!

Could do without the "lugie" on the large cent though (in your video). :puke:

No "lugie", just a little spit to clean the dirt off. Don't be so squeamish. We work in dirt, not a kitchen. lol

Ron, your getting a bit greedy with the vintage coins now are'nt you.
As far as the spit on the coins, us fellow military guys are used to acting like animals.
Keep on spitting :usmc:

Haha yeah we are. I would've used some Break-Free if I had it on me. Nothing like getting the hands dirty doing some fun grunt work.
