Gotta watch out for those bears for sure! The was a relic hunter here in Va., King and Queen Co. to be exact, he took some pics of a bear while he was detecting. He said the bear was stomping the ground, so he proceeded to ease on out of there!

Be safe out there Calabash, I'd sure miss seeing your video's if you got all ate up by a bear!!! LOL

Good video. You have to watch out for those bears. As Detective Joe Friday would say: "Just the bear facts mam'." Lol Be safe.

There is an abundance of black bears where I often hunt (detect). “Counter Assault” bear spray is always on my tool belt with hopes I’ll never get between a sow and her cubs. The spray is powerful but it is a last resort if needed.

I was going to comment re a large caliber side arm. Tho I’m legal in several states, in my home state many places I detect have prohibitions against carrying. It is really complicated in CT and I think even many of my local 2A friends are unaware of the prohibition in state parks and forests (possessing a hunting license in forests in season being the exception) I don’t hunt critters. Many towns have ordinances prohibiting carry in open space and all parks. Harming a bear, even if you believed you were about to be mauled would likely result in all kinds of new problems. Yesterday - coincidentally a large black bear was photographed at the chain link fence that divides our yard from the other back yards. It made it to FB on the Bristol Talks page. My 87 year old neighbor yelled at it

This post brings to mind a lil' joke I heard awhile back. There were two hikers best of friends and they were out hiking with backpacks way deep in bear country in Montana. One of the hikers was taller and slim while the other was short and somewhat heavier. They had hiked quite a distance and were in the middle of nowhere where out of nowhere comes out of a tree line next to the trail, a snarling angry grizzly bear. Well, the two hikers broke into a dead run and after running some distance the taller hiker stopped and looking over his shoulder began changing from his hiking boots to tennis shoes. As his buddy passed by him, he laughingly asked him if he thought those running shoes would really help him outrun the bear. His slim buddy replied "all I have to do is outrun you."
