Beach

It really depends on the beach. It will do OK on low mineral Texas and Florida beaches. It will not do well on many beaches like many in California. A DD coil will be a big help. Rob

I did quite well on the beaches of Mexico and then also here in the states. I love the MXT for all. HH to all, Nancy

I had trouble in WET sand in Cancun, but MXT did fine in dry sand. The sand there was dark gray as I recall....

Cancun is North of Playa del Carmen and the sand was a beautiful light beige and wet or dry the MXT did great. I did more detecting in the dry sand after seeing the 5 men dressed in weapons and black clothing patrolling the beaches. OK, I ran close to our resort.:look:.......Left Larry in the dust to deal with them. :starwars: They didn't do any harm. Good luck and HH, Nancy

I have a stock eclipse 950 and it will not work in the water or wet sand at the beach in Oregon.Does OK in the dry sand, and fresh water.

It handles salt water beaches very well. I'm on vacation in San Diego right now and spent yesterday afternoon on the wet and dry sand and it did very well. Even cranked the gain to +1 and it worked just fine. In areas where there was black sand some adjustments had to be made to stop the static crackle from the background but once again it did well. Found a couple of dollars worth of change and lots of beer caps but the best thing so far has been a Jungle story toy with a little character of some kind riding an ape. Really cute. Will post pictures of my finds when we return to Wisconsin in a couple of weeks. I've learned in a very short time to trust what it's telling me. It went off once and said hot rocks and gave a depth of 6 inches and danged if it wasn't right on. In some of the areas that have huge amounts of black sand and in the ocean water, the machine got noisy. I put the trac switch in salt position and balanced it then threw the switch into lock and it was very quiet. I'm lovin this new MXT really well.

Oh San Diego is such a beautiful place and I love the beach there. Cabrillo National Monument is a spectacular sight and the lighthouse there is so neat, not to mention the beaches! Boy, wish I was there too! Good luck and enjoy the rest of your vacation and we'll be waiting for the pics when you get back to WI. HH, Nancy

Th MXT is the only detector I use on the beach with a 6x10 dd coil. Works great for me in wet or dry sand. The key is really knowing the machine.
