Beach shoes

I detect on the beaches of NC and Virginia occasionally .I normally go during the winter and wear knee boots.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a good warm weather beach shoe, one that won't hold sand, something that will hold up for at least one year and stay on your feet. I can't do flip flops. Thanks for any suggestions.

I just use scuba boots, light one when its warm and thick ones when its cold.

I went on %&^$# and bought name brand Sandels
I did use a waterproof sealer where material goes into sole
Have lasted a year so far
Always paid for good water shoes but sandels dry fast and give good support also easy on easy off

semi hard sole dive boots with plastic zipper
warm and comfy

Google "wet shoes" I use the NRS Neoprene Paddle Wet shoes, but there are literally hundreds of them out there.:detecting:

Take a look at the Soft Science brand. I saw them in a fishing tackle store and just had to try a pair of the Fin Boot model. They are very light, cool, meant for use in water, fast drying with no stench of neoprene. I have not used the neoprene since I bought the Soft Science hi-top with a zipper on the side. Sizes from 7 to 16 in black, green or camo color. List about $90.00. If a low top is your thing look at The Fin H2O.

I just got a pair of those Soft Science Fin Boots at Academy Sporting Goods for $79.95. I got a size 10 and I normally wear a size 10.5 sneaker extra wide to be comfortable but the size 10 feels perfect. I see on line they are listed at $89.95 so I guess I got a good deal.

I'm particular about footwear because I got some tired old toes. The draw strap should really keep the beach shells out, we will see.

SCUBA booties I got on clearance; they contain no metal. End of the season is a great time for bargains on water gear.

"walking sole" scuba boots. I never have to worry about rocks, coral, glass or any other hazards.

Just be aware that after being in the water, sand can pack into zipper. Not if, but WHEN that happens, spray the zipper with some water while working the zipper pull up and down. If you dont have a water spray, do it under water and its much easier.

Just wanna put it out there the soft science fin boots in navy digi blue camo are on sale for 25 bucks (size dependent) so if your not picky on color that will save you almost 50 bucks. Not shabby I say. Look forward to getting my pair. Also they are prime eligible for 2 day shipping

Sizes 8, 9 . and 10 only ones at 25 dollars. No size 13 or above.

... also, I've picked up water shoes at end of season sales at those giant tourist trap beach discount stores at a good price. They are cheap [quality] but sometimes get lucky... usually get several pairs (off season) for price of ane decent pair of scuba booties.

This post led me to the Soft Science water shoe. I spent a week last week in Gulf Shores in the surf and on the beach. I have to say I love them. I'm not a fan of the high tops so I bought the SoftScience men's Fin H2O shoe, which is low top. I normally buy an extra wide shoe, these fit me perfectly for the style and size I bought. They are very light weight and easy rinsing when coming off the beach.
