Beach settings for the 705

Anyone have suggestions for setting when search an ocean beach? I have 6 inch MF coil and 6x9 HF dd coil. The beach here in Charleston ground ballances in the mid 70s. I have been trying to run sensitivity around 22-24, ground tracking on in beach mode, 4 tones. Seem to get some falsing with low numbers, 10 to 12 some what often. Does not seem to matter much wet or dry sand. Anyone have some settings that work.

I use my 705 on the dry beach sand only. Just swinging the coil anywhere close to the wet line it starts to false and chatter. Some will suggest turning the sens way down while others, like me, say get a multi frequency MD made for wet salt beach and water. I run the 705 with the HF DD elliptical at sens 23, AM, 4 tone and GB is 27....but only in the dry.

Those false signals are probably coming from patches of wet sand below the surface, or patches of mineralisation. I have the X Terra 70, and do the same as you, i.e. put it in beach mode, then tracking....if I am going onto wet sand (and the X Terra will find stuff in the wet sand) I have the sensitivity set (usually) between 15 and 20...if I need to drop it a bit more, I will. I have a multifrequency machine, and a couple of PI machines, but still like to use the X Terra from time to time....dont expect to get the same performance as with a multifrequency machine....it wont happen, but you can still have some fun at the beach with the X Terra ( and some other VLF machines). Thanks guys. Went back and looked at some notes from the ebook and seems sensitivity mostly going to be in the 15 to 20 range. I think iI have been trying to drive it a little to high. I was using the hf elipical coil as well. Have a mf 6 inch coil, its just so small. Guess i will stick with the PI machine I have.
