Beach settings for Etrac?

Treasurecoast

New member
Was lucky enough to borrow a Minelab Etrac. Some settings seem a little off from the instruction manual I was looking at.

I am curious as to best settings for beach use, for dry sand, wet sand, and slightly in the water. Is the quick start "get up and go" good enough? Or should I make manual adjustments to sensitivety and trash density?

One other thing, I noticed when in user mode I was able to select "coin", "relic" etc by hitting the except/reject button without the left/right arrow keys like the manual stated, but then it wouldn't select. Kinda weird. Also, my 1879 silver coin was not picked up in the "high trash" setting with factory preset settings. Thought that was weird.

Thanks in advance for any help/info.

I would ask these questions on the "Beach" hunting forum here on this site. I too will be using my etrac on the salt next month and need to ask some coil questions there as well.

I would not think of getting any where near the water with an E-Trac. Too many times I use my Excalibur at and in the water and It drops in the surf when I am trying to get the target out with my scoop. Been there and done it. Have fun at the Beach

You can use a brush cutter strap and harness it. Or tie a cord on it to your belt loop. But you are right - don't take it in the water without a plan B.
