Beach Sand, Chatter, and False Signals

arizonaames

New member
I just had an incident where I went out to detect an old school house and could not stand the chatter that I was getting. It was terrible! I thought that either the coil went bad or the box had heated up in the car and there was a problem with the MXT....visions of sending it in in prime time to get it fixed. When I got home, I took the coild off and cleaned the rubber and plastic screw at the base of the coil. I reasembled it and took it outside for a test. It was now OK. Seems that using it on the beach a few times last week left a black sand residue that caused the coil to chatter. Thought that I would pass on this information. It might come in handy to others.

Thanks and glad everything turned out OK. HH, Nancy

u might try some clear silicone around the coil cover works great no more sand in cover :clapping:
