beach rake

I see the beach cleaner every morning grabbing all the possible good stuff......GRRRRRR!!

I built several a few, years ago. They will "find" anything the tines and basket pass thru. Drawback is they are brutal to use. You better be in good shape, or it will sit in the back of the garage like mine do.

On the" UP" side, if you locate a trashy spot that has good stuff mixed in with it, you can, (pardon the pun), REALLY clean up.

I have a really nice one I made about five years back, still haven't taken it out. I know it can find stuff, but again, the effort required is tremendous to clean an area out.
If anyone is really interested, I could post a picture of my rake, and explain it.
I'm banged up from a car accident back in february, and probably won't get very much detecting in this season.
Free advice, WEAR your seat belt. I didn't, and I paid for it, tho I was lucky to only suffer a scalp tear, and a broken foot.
Happy hunting. Bottomfeeder.

Oh yea, a seat belt is a must, not worth getting a ticket for not wearing one and it can and will save ur life, you are lucky. Please post that pic of the rake, wouldn't mind making one myself. Thanks, hope you get better soon, lots of jewelry out there waiting on you. HH John

I don't remember what all I made this out of. I know I bougt a rake at Home depot that was about 30 inches wide.
I cut it down a ways, then made a frame to set it in. After that I put half inch "rabbit wire on it.
You need to leave the teeth hanging down a little to help cut into the bottom, plus hopefully snag a chain.

Running the tractor on the beach in the morning has always been a desired job by city maintenance workers, the items that get caught in the tangs were,at times a added bonus!!
Now if I could just figure out a way to troll and pull a rake while water detecting....that would be multi tasking!!!HH bob.oz

Found some pictures today on a Dutch website:

Thats a really cool idea. They look just like clam rakes. I can imagine the reaction you might get when you appear to be "clamming" in the dry sand:heh:
