but it's not from a sand scoop. They don't work too well in ghost towns and similar sites I prefer to hunt. Instead, it's when I sweep too close to
a.. my aluminum cane or
b.. the carbon plate in my prosthetic shoe.

[size=small]By the way, I hunted a very salty dry and very salty wet area with the racer in 3-Tone and didn't have a problem with the wet salt conductivity because I adjusted the ID Filter, as done in the Beach mode, to eliminate it, much the same as I have done for years with a variable Disc. control to handle low-conductive wet salt. I've only headed to the Oregon coast once since I got the Racer, but it's nowhere near as 'salty' as where I hunted.
Also, I usually do not use coil covers.
1.. There's no real need to because coils shouldn't be worked on the ground surface, and
2.. They can add extra weight on the front-end of the rod when there's no need, and
3.. There might be a possibility of getting some form of' contamination' between the coil ands cover that could cause problems.[/size]
