Beach hunting?

Ukee

New member
Good morning everyone!

I'm off to long beach Canada and I'm gonna try and hunt with my safari in ankle high water at low tide today. Any recommendations for settings??
Lots of people visit here in summer for cold water surf. Surely there must be something good out there !!

Thanks

Thanks for quick response. That's what I figured, did first park dog yesterday and I'm amazed how good this safari works. Unbelievable !!

I would not recommend taking it in the salt water even though it's just ankle deep. If you drop the Safari in the water, you'll destroy the circuitry almost instantly in that salt water. If you still want to do it, put a short tether to your belt so it'll only drop a little way and not all the way to the ground. Also, don't lift the detector coil up in the air because the moment you do that, the salt water will travel down the shaft into the control box and kill the detector.

Yes I agree, it's kinda a sketchy idea taking into the ankle deep water. Think ill just wait for low tide and stay on beach.

Ukee, a very smart choice! Many times I have been tempted to go a little further than the wet sand and a little too close to the tide line with my machine. I've come close to dropping mine and mentally kicked myself after I've realised how close I came to toasting my detector!!
That is why I have an underwater detector and use it when I pre-plan to either wade or go under the water. The biggest investment (apart from time) is your detector/s and I try to do my best to protect them rather than have to replace them. Good luck and H.H.!!:detecting:
