Beach hunting X-Terra-70

Got to use my X-Terra-70 at the beach today. I had it set on beach mode with sensitivity set on 30. I hunted the dry beach sand and recovered quite a few coins. I then moved to the wet sand and experienced some problems. With the sensitivity set on 30 it jumped around and gave me a lot of false TID's. I lowered the sensitivity to 20 and it calmed not quite a bit. The only problem is I didn't find anything at this low setting. I moved by to the dry sand and reset the sensitivity to 30 and it worked fine. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. TomB

Thanks Bill....I followed your directions on setting my XTerra70 for beach hunting. After setting the machine I walked about 20 ft.and found this nice 14k ring with diamonds at 9". Thanks, my first gold ring. TomB

:clapping:Sweet ring!!! :clapping:

Did't take long to get on the right track. Nice find!

Great ring mate but if you want to use higher sens. on wet beach sand you need to hold the mode button in for 3 seconds, to put the machine into salt mode. This is written in your instructional hand book if you have problems. I can use my xterra 70 on 25-30 on moist sand &20-25 on wetter sand & 12-15 on the waters edge I hope this helps & when you hold the mode button in a cross will appear at the top of the screen & I don't use with the umbrella showing.

Steve,
I only use the large round coil that was supplied with the detector I also bought a 18.? DD coil but I only used it once & as it is not waterproof I don't want to forget & put it underwater & also the round coil support your detector if you put it down, I hope that makes sense.
