Beach hunting Virginia help

Staying with friends in Alexandria Virginia. Looks as if the MDing law are very very tuff here in VA. Cannot MD any parks or it seems any place. From what I can tell it looks like you can MD on the beaches. Would like to know if this is true and if anybody can give me any good places to beach MD close to Alexandria VA.

I'll agree that things are getting tougher everywhere for detectors. The govermnents(local or state) don't want to see anybody having fun anymore. I think it pizzes them off.
