beach hunting question

I have read many articles on how noisy and unstable the mxt gets in wet salt water beaches. I moved to the east coast in late october and have been out several times using my 6x5 dd coil and have found it does great in the dry sand but in wet sand it gets to be noisy.
My question is ..Does anyone know if a 3" excelerator coil will quiet it down some? I am thinking that because of its smaller size it will se less ground and maybe perform better.
I really cannot invest in a pi detector right now,and dont want to trade or sell the mxt for one.
I am looking for advice to use it to the best of its ability in the wet sand. I will be on the beaches alot once spring gets here.
Thank- You in advance

Slapshot,
I'm no beach hunter but frequent the beach forum often since I like viewing their finds. I also use my MXT on beaches on yearly vacations, etc.
But if I lived near the shore I would probably opt to buy a detector made for beach & water hunting.
Low tide hunting is where most of the goodies are and you often need to get your feet, up to your knees, and detector wet to find the goodies. The MXT is a fantastic machine but not made for this sort of detecting.
Those on the beach forum will be more than happy to make recommendations for you. Or you can use the search tool to find older post.

increasing your discriminator setting just a bit?
Try #4
You will knock out some of the real thin rings but that might be a good trade off for stability.
Dont go past 10 on the sensitivity unless it gets to quiet.
