Beach Hunting in Mexico...Looking for places to go!

Hey Guys thought I would try here,
Has anyone ever taken their metal detector to Mexico ? I hear it is legal and plenty of beaches to detect. Any advice on Hotels would be appreciated. Thinking of going sometime in Feb.

I was in Cozumel on Christmas Eve. Detected for a while at the beach. just found a few US coins. I didn't have any problems traveling or detecting. I was on a cruise so I can't advise about any hotels. Ed
