Beach hunting and the Ace 250

I was wondering if anybody uses an Ace 250 on the beach and if so do they work well, or not? I am planning a vacation to a beach for a week and both my grandaughters have 250s. I don't want them to be disappointed if they won't work well. Thanks and HH Dennis in Idaho

It's the salt that's the problem. I used to use one and it was good in the dry sand but not when it got near the salt water. Just freaked out on me and was very tiring to listen to. Keep the girls away from the salt and you will keep them happy. I found a nice silver ring with mine this February.

Have fun at the beach,

I guess that is all the advise I am going to get. Thank you both for responding. Dennis in Idaho

Hey Dennis:

Don't know what else there is to be said on this topic. I didn't want to trouble you with the obvious advice such as keep the sensitivity lowered or the ACE will false on you because of the salt, and discrimination set to jewellery so that the girls will get the coins and possibly jewellery without the hassle of digging every scrap of foil and ferrous on the beach. It's a turn on and go type of machine so the rest is simple. Headphones if you've got them as the tones will be easier for the girls to hear and as there is no volume adjust on this unit it keeps the annoyance to other beach goers to a minimum.
I hope that you and the girls have a great time at the beach. I can't give you any advice on Oregon beaches because I'm in Bermuda.

Cheers,
