Beach Hunter ID

Was wondering if anyone has experience with the beach hunter id. Pro and cons. How well is does it compare to other machines in salt water?

The BHID is a great all around water machine..If you like a tone AND visual ID and solid performance then you will be happy.. Is it better than a Sov/WOT combo..No..But its good for most rings at 12 inches in wet sand and quarters a little deeper..Where the BHID out performs others is in fresh water lake swimming areas.. I chest mount the box with the ID LED's up, just under my chin, leaves only the coil and shaft under water..I can look down to check the LED color.Red/Trash,Blue/Silver, Yel/Gold.. about 80% accurate on signals.. Get webb straps and plastic clips at a camping store to chest mount.. very stable in Salt water too..HH BigDave

Dave, how do you keep the coil down. I have problems with it floating and I'd rather not weight it down unless I have no other way.

Thanks for your reply. Good information. I'm thinking this machine will do O.K around the Gulf Coast salt water. HH

Whites shipped a few very early models with a weighted coil..I saw one but my order was like yours..Maybe they will offer the weighted coil sometime in the future...I saw a clear plastic coil brace used once on a floppy coil in wave action.. worked good..but your locked at one angle to sweep the bottom sand..I chest mount the box so the coil is not a big problem to keep pushed to the bottom.. here in the lake I like the shaft and coil to float beside me if I have to scoop and shake a lot of gravel to get to the gold..a small bag of landscape gravel tied toward the shaft bottom will keep the coil down if thats where you want it..if you lose it in the water..it was only rocks...HH Bigdave

I put an ankle weight with a velcro strap on the shaft at the joint. Holds it down perfectly. Then when you decide to hunt dry sand again, just take it off. dave b

Hi Dave,
Do the weights come in different sizes? If so, which one do you use? Is there a tips page for the ID? Seems to be a simple machine to use.
Thanks for your help and any other advice you have time to share.
Don
