Hey james, Metaldig myself and Wes up up north to a couple of corn fields in Derry,Wes got a half cent,Metaldig got some wheaties and the jury 's not in yet but we think he got a piece of a meteor . The thing is 2" round ,brown in color rang in high silver. We took a flame to it and it dosen't get hot ,has some crystal like stuff in it and it weighs about 1lb.Anybody have any info will be grateful? I got a old button ,plated spoon and couple pieces of clad.I also got some good old fashion POISON IVY!!!LATER

But you will have to bring it to a University to be sure.

I used to collect rocks and minerals before I got into MD'ing and I have a fragment of iron meteorite I picked up when I was down in Odesa Texas (not rare) as well as a few Tektites in a box somewhere.

If it is a meteorite, then it sounds like it might be a stony/iron. Does it have a fusion crust? Meteorites containing metal are Iron/Nickel so I don't know what it means that it rang close to silver. Perhaps an expert will be able to tell you for sure Bob.

I hope it turns out to be real because they fetch big $$$.
