Could anyone tell me if this detector will handle the conditions of a Florida beach in shallow surf? I know this is an older model, but would you say it is worth considering for a very tight budget? Thanks

Yes, There is a switch inside to go into the salt mode. Which is a silent search mode. Which will work proprerly under the condition that you have described. The salt mode will calm the the falsing.
