I'm going to buy a Equinox this week .. I hunt the salt water beach 90% of the time . My question is should I buy the 600 or Should I spend the extra money for the 800 .

Get the 600 and waterproof headphones.

You have more options with the 800 above and beyond the two extra high frequencies. Able to tune differently control the backlight and more. 800 was my choice and all I do is salt water. Good luck to you on either choice you make. Read the options carefully.

You are probably fine with either. I was set on a 600 but wimped out at the last second an got the 800, no regret. My beach hunting buddy just picked up a 600 to compliment his 800, but its too soon to have a real comparison.

Looks like I''m getting the 800 ..

Don't think you will regret it! Good luck to you.

with the 800 you have a lot more options in adjusting the target tones which is a plus IMO. Also IMO you need to upgrade the phones and shaft. You get the WM....... sell it the shaft and phones for the up grade. I like having the gold mode for volleyball courts or dry sand.

IMO, for the modes you are going to be using the most, the 600 is going to perform the same as the 800. I guarantee most people are just going to play with the gold modes on the 800 and never use them. Some might, but most wont. The extra settings are good if you are a tweaker but interestingly enough, I read where people think the Equinox as it is, is already too complicated to use. I disagree with that assessment but some seem to think it is.

Having had both units, I didn't see a difference at all between the modes they each share...between the Park, Field, and Beach modes.

The ONE thing I do wish the 600 would have, that the 800 does have...is the backlight adjustments.

Otherwise, my opinion is, save you some money and go with the 600. If the wireless phones are a must have item, you can pick up a pair of low latency wireless phones for around $50 new. My personal opinion would be to skip the wireless and go straight to the waterproof phones since you say you'll be using it at the beach most of the time. You could always add a pair of low latency ear buds later if you want the wireless.

FOUND AN 800 , BOUGHT IT BE HERE TUES ..

Start now reading the manual. Over and over. Take your time at first and don't get disgusted. There is a learning curve. Go with the factory settings at first, until you start to get to know the machine. You might slow down the recovery speed a bit from factory in beach mode.
Enjoy your 800 and keep us posted.
