beach hunt

Johnny

New member
This is my 3rd time out with the mxt and 5.3 coil . Went to the beach and got a silver chain and about $20 to $30 in clad, I'll have to clean it to know. It is a lot of nickels, dimes, quarters and some dollar and very few penny there.

Wow! I wish Centra Illinois had a few beaches. Good Job.

There were a lot of "swimming holes" when I was a kid Dave. We didn't have municipal swimming pools to cool off in, we went to the lake. Most of the ones I knew of 50 years ago are not used anymore, but the lakes are still there. I bet some research will help find you some old public and privately owned lakes. I still find a few things here at the old swimming hole in Eureka.

OK hear is my total, quarters $28.00, dimes $9.80, nickels $19.20, cents $1.27, dollars $3.00 total $61.27 in clad.

Nice pile of cash Johnny.

Nice pile of coins Johnny. Where are you located and was it a salt or fresh water beach? Rob

The MXT works great on salt water beaches, nice finds.........:clapping:

Texas was where I used mine in the winter. Were you using coin or relic mode? Rob

I was in the coin mode. A lot of the time it would over load it was some many coins in some spots that all you could do is just go through the sand with your hands and get as much as you could and then go over it with the detector ( an detector would have got these coins) .. Most coins were about 3 to 5" deep. The temp. was about 102 and we hunted from 6:30 am to 11:30am , I'm just to old to stay in that kind of temp... I'll go back next week.

Just looking at that pile makes me tired. It's amazing how well the small coils work on the beach when hunting concentrated areas like around or under docks or areas that are littered with iron. I used the little 5.3 Bullseye coil recently on my modified IDX Pro at the beach around an old dock at low tide and was getting coins and jewelry down to 7-8 inches.

My goodness! That's one heck of a pile of coins. You must have been exhausted after that hunt. :stretcher: VERY IMPRESSIVE. Thanks for sharing and the pictures, Nancy
