Gidday all.
Just enjoyed a great 2 weeks vacation filled with scuba diving, metal detecting, snorkling and eating freshly caught scallops and abalone! Got some great footage, photos and film of the underwater life also. Anyway, here's a few pics. hope you like.

Fresh Scallops and ABologna....sounds GOOD to ME!

Love the photos Angela...That funny Flying Dragon looking fish thing looks like a great Avatar!

Were you around a semi old camp site? With lots of swimmers.....it reminds me of a boy scout camp site or summer camp site area...it definately has an era of the mid 1900's coins......40's-50's-60's.....

Gidday Mattockman,

I detected under an old pier (jetty) dating back to the 1800's. It's also a favorite dive spot for me, as the depth there on high tide is around 7 metres. In the photos with me detecting I'm in about 4 metres of water. I had a huge bull ray swim past me, checking me out, just curious. This pier is also a popular scuba diving training spot and nearby is a dive shop of which I'm a member.
Just an old pier with lots of fish life and an old beach. The earliest coins I found was a 1918 penny, but in the past I've found coins dating late 1800's.

Great underwater photos and some interesting finds:thumbup:

Great finds and great piccy's.
You can't go wrong doing this sort of thing, just finding a few coins is sometimes just the icing on the cake.
We don't have SeaDragons up here in SE QLD but the wildlife is just as good when you are down there looking around.
We have a few old jetties I would like to give a go but finding a dive buddy with similar interests is a bit of problem.
Golden, What type of camera were you using?
Good luck on future hunts and keep sending those posts showing all the loot.
PS happy new year to everyone, Aushunter:ausflag::detecting:

Gidday Aushunter, I'm using a Canon Powershot A640 (macro setting) in an underwater housing.
Nice to hear from another Aussie!!

Gidday lazyaussie,
Thanks for the reply! I don't have really any competition when scuba detecting as I suppose the idea hasn't latched onto any other detectorists. Though I've seen a few divers on occasion fanning the sand under a pier after they saw me doing it (without detector in hand) and pull out a coin. I think most are just interested in the fishlife and chilling out. I keep all my 1c, 2c and 5c. I exchange the other higher denomination coins for notes and when I've accumulated enough cash, I buy myself something nice (dive gear usually!).
