Beach GB mode?

Can someone explain to me the difference between Beach GB mode and regular GB mode? I mean, what does it do that is unique to Beach mode and where (other than the beach) could it possibly be a benefit? I have never used this mode and was wondering if there may be circumstances where it might be a benefit. Thank you for your time.

Where he suggests that the beach mode on the 70/705 does extend the GB range. As part of his pre detecting tests he says "Standard GB mode will run out of adjustment scale".

I would imagine that it could be put to good use on any badly mineralised ground, not just the beach.
