Beach Finds

Hello to everyone.

I am a beginner with a Discovery 3300. Got some advice from some of you about doing some detecting. Thanks for your assistance. I spent a fair amount of time getting use to the beach and met some fellow detectors. Had a lot of fun. I found a few bucks in change and a whole bunch of junk. But did manage to find my first bit of gold..... in picture #257 just to the lower left of the big dangle earring. Must have come off of a bracelet or earring. It is a little smaller than a hole punch. My best find was a divers watch, which is in really good shape and works like a charm. It is an Invicta which is a pretty popular watch for divers and surfers. I did luck into it at low tide and was about six inches down. The Velcro strap was pretty weak which I am sure was the reason for it being lost and then found. It was certainly a fun time and look forward to doing it again real soon. the best part was meeting some really nice fellow detectors. Thanks again for your help.

I met a very nice guy from VA who was really into Civil War detecting. Said he had thousands of artifacts from that era. He uses a programmable Minelab and loves it. We talked about things for about 15 minutes. Sounded like that Minelab was very sophisticated. Dont know the mdel though, he said it as about $1,100.

Another guy from SC was on the beach with a Tesoro and we talked for about 20 miutes.

The watch was really a bonus and I am very anxious to continue. Thanks for your comments.

The Minelab guy might have been using an Explorer. Thanks for posting your finds an will be watching for your next post.

Good luck, bottlebum

Yes, it runs..... other than a little of the black around the outside dial it is near new condition. I have noticed that it does run fast.... dont know whether this can be fixed or if it needs to be sent for repairs. Dont know that I want to sell it righ know... but thanks... I will keep you in mind if I change my mind.
