Gold? earring. 12-07 (First gold I've found if indeed it is gold) Feels light but I scraped the end and it was gold inside. Doesn't have and 14kt or other markings except a foreign symbol (see picture). If anyone knows what the symbol means, please let me know.

50 Cal shell
308 shells

That type of clasp is usually costume. Also, when there is a silver post on gold earing, always costume. Being light doesnt mean its not gold... Recent years and metal price moved mfg to make hollow, reducing weight and costs. Take this info to the bank guys!

If it hit 12/07 regardless of the clasp, it is gold. I found enough and I know. If the
clasp was silver it may have caused your vid to fluctuate if it were shallow enough,
however, that clasp if say was 7" deep, you probably would not have got a reading
on it. I was at the beach yesterday and found a gold tooth cap at 9" but it never
left off 12/06 and was a faint signal. Kept falling through my sifter and I thought it
was an ear ring but took my pinpointer after 3 siftings and was able to find it.

Glad I didn't throw out my 12-07 stainless steel nuts and washers, I had a hunch they were gold

Very few absolutes in this game, tho some hawg laws can be pretty close to it.

Walk near it, swing over it, and understand what the machine is telling you

Thanks all for the advice. A friend of mine (from China) told me the same about hollow gold jewelry, and not to let the weight alone trick me into believing it isn't gold. In this case I would bet it is not...but it consistently hits 12-07 and as I mentioned, I cut through a section deeper than plating and the metal was still gold. I will find out for sure and post the results.
