Beach Experience (so far)

Trip 1: First time out I was getting used to the machine and fumbling around looking at this and that, very random. I saw another guy crusing along in the opposite direction, frown on his face, and moving along fast. So I thought I'd walk normally and swing wildly. In the preset "Beach Mode" (with pennys rejected...I thought) I found lots of bottle tops, pennys, and this plate in the dry sand [attachment 293177 IMG_0649-Copy.JPG] . Time searching was about 4 hours, 0430 low tide. I was surprized not to hear anything in the wet sand, but the detector was working. Thinking about using the 17" coil here since there is not much trash or interference.

Trip 2: 6 hours at VA Beach starting 0315 low tide. I read to go slower and cover the area more thorougly, so I did. Again in the wet sand near the breaking waves, nothing. But during hour 4, return trip, I decided to search the area where I would normally put a towel just toward the water from where the beach "sifter-tractor" went. I found this lady's watch [attachment 293172 IMG_0644-Copy.JPG] about 6" deep, in damp sand, using the normal Beach Mode, without pennys rejected. The band is ss, the readings were 12.37ish. Even though not an expensive piece, it was pretty excitng to actually find something other than bottle tops (but lots of those too!). The watch kept perfect time and cleaned up nicely. I also found this thing: [attachment 293178 IMG_0650.JPG] [attachment 293179 IMG_0651-Copy.JPG] , not sure what it is. Still I see I have a lot to learn with the adjustments, and technique. Fun fun fun :)

Sweet. I found a tiffany ring in the penny range recently, so be careful of rejecting them. I love the 17" on the beach.

I would not 'reject' the penny range! On the beach I dig everything, and I mean everything. Gold jewelry is all over the range, from low 12-02/03 up to 36/38. I got a 10k signet ring yesterday that was 12-34. Little tiny bits of gold are usually low numbers and the bigger heavier ones often ring in the mid 30's. Besides, if you dig it all then there is less to 'decide' about the next time.
