Is the Sand scoop the ultimate for the beach .
I have seen some nice shovels from lesche like the relic shovel.
I know they don't sift the sand but you can also use them on land.
Maybe I should buy both?

2 basic types of beach scoops available - one for wet sand (and dry) and one for dry - Lesche type shovels don't cut it on the beach.
Reilly's has a great selection...RTG is their name...

Scoop yes for dry sand, I use one of these on dry sand and in shallow water

And for all around water detecting I have a heavy duty one like this

Wouldn't hurt to carry a small garden shovel for wet sand, they sell some spade like ones that are 3' high at most hardware stores

OK I was thinking of the relic shovel which I could use on the beach and the field.
I do see the sand scoop used most of the time in the videos.

i use
In the water a long handle scoop wins hands down(or maybe fanning if your under)
in the wet a scoop or shovel and a small sifter(depends on how wet it is)
Dry and damp the shovel/sifter combo beats the scoop by far,(as long as you don't mind bending down, keps you flexible) sifter for the real dry but a shovel is better for the damp underneath, then once out use the sifter
my sifter is made from 99% galvanised weldmesh with a warm wood handle, similar shape to the above scoop(i keep meaning to take a pic)
