Beach Detector

GoldenGirl

New member
Hi, looks like we are moving to Jacksonville in a few months and I need to start saving for a beach detector for my Christmas present.
Wet and dry sand, no deep water, light weight, and about $600 to $800. My experience is CZ-5, MXT, and Ace 250 plus a couple of Tesoro's.
Am think X-Terra. But, would like comment and suggestions from beach experts.
Thanks

ExplorerII, BeachHunter, CZ20... Forget the MXT it doesn't like the wet stuff at all. The Ace 250 won't go deep and from what I understand doesn't care for the wet either... Sometimes you just got to open the pocketbook if you want to be successful :) After your detector you need a good scoop and they are not cheap either.. Good luck in your search :)

The Tesoro Sand Shark would be your best bet in that price range. Reliable, sensitive, and microprocessor controlled. The MSRP is $679.00, your price $543.20. To top it all of, a Lifetime Warranty from the fastest responding company in the business with service repairs.

You really want to invest a little in a water-proof machine. If you already have experience with a CZ-5, try to find a good, used, CZ-20. Other than the Volume and GB knobs being switched, it's the same machine, just no meter. I use both myself, with good results.

If you just can't find a decent detector, switch the CZ-5 over to SALT mode and do the dry/wet sand. Keep a wary eye out to sea, as you don't want to take a wave.

Good for salt water......it's lightweight, controls are in the headset and if you fall over in the water......it can get wet!!
It's a PI so you will dig everything, but the newer ones have a tighter discrimination that does cancel out some iron. I just got a new one and really like it a lot.

The Wader, like the Diver, are not PI units. They are VLF machines. There is, however, a HH PI version as well.

Does the Wader work? Here is a post I recently made in another forum.
