i leave near the jersey shore. i am looking for the best detector to hunt on wet and dry sand not in water.
money is not the biggest concern. any help would be appreciated.

its simple a minlab excalibur 2:super::minelab:
this a very good machine...

I'll 2nd that John or maybe a Sov, either would be great. You just gotta be careful to keep the Sov clean and dry. I like being able to come home and give the Excal a nice douche, before hanging it up to dry, savvy?

I use a whites pi detector here on the southern beaches of nj. the only down fall is you have to dig every thing. but you should do that anyway.theres not that much iron bits on the beaches here in southern n.j. so a pi detector isn;t that bad to use. you can also take this detector in the water.salt or fresh water.I hae done very well with this machine, its just a matter of personel preference as to what machine you purchase.but to be succesful in this hobby you have to pay your dues and put the time into it. I hope this helps ,have a great day and happy hunting.

Depends on how much beach you want to cover.

If you want to stay within a 100' X 100' area, get the ML or a PI. Slow sweep speed on the ML and digging everything with the P.I. will limit the area you can cover.

If you wish to cover (thoroughly) an acre (208' X 208') or more, get the BHID 300.

You can cover a lot more then 100' x 100' with a Sovereign GT and a 15 inch WOT coil. Both of my Sovereigns have the WOT coil and I cover a lot of area. If surf cooperates, I'm in it with the waterproof sovereign, if I cant get in the water due to surf I use the non waterproofed Sovereign with the WOT.

If your concerned about the salt spray on the Sovereign, cover it with a 1 gallon baggie, leave it loose enough over face plate to adjust the controls, and twist tie it at the bottom. Poke a small hole in side of bag for head set cord. It will not survive an underwater dunking, but salt spray and splashes are not a problem using this ................

Salt spray gets into everything. If your machine is not waterproof, salt is getting at the electronics. Good luck and HH
