Beach detector help

MXTerer

New member
I plan on doing a lot of beach detecting in the wet and dry sand this year. I won't be doing any diving. My question-does the MXT work well in this application? Are any of you using the MXT on the beach?
Thanks

I have an MXT and it is terrible in the wet sand.. You can hunt dry sand but forget about wet with the MXT it chatters way too much.

If you don't want a water machine but want a wet sand demon with perhaps the best depth out there, the Minelab Quattro is a great choice. And you would have a terrific land machine too. Or, you could get the Excalibur and have a machine that will survive if you drop it in the water or get hit by a wave. Which I can tell you as an avid wet sand and shallow water hunter, is not a matter of IF but of when. I have an Excalibur and do all wet sand and shallow water hunting with it. Great machine.

For any kind of stable operation you will need either a PI unit or a multi-frequency unit. I have an Explorer that I have used on the beach but it never goes near the water. Only my Excalibur or CZ-20 go there. Like Mike said, it's not a question of if, but when. There are several units out there that would be good on the beach but the choice narrows for water. It can get kind of expensive so do your homework and a hands on test of some units, if you can, before buying.
Best of luck.
Jerry
