Beach detector DFX or Sovereign GT

Can anyone give me advice on which one to use for beach detecting

If the choice is between those two then the clear winner is the Sovereign. I had a DFX and while it is a competent machine, it lacks the depth and the wet sand/shallow water performance of the Sovereign. It's a machine better suited for land duty. The Sovereign GT is based on Minelab's 17 frequency BBS technology and is essentilly a non-waterproof version of the Excalibur, a machine that most consider the best beach detecting unit.

I agree with Mike on the GT. I am buying one next week for about $579.00 from a friend who owns a detector store. He is an EE Engineer and in the business for 10 plus years of selling detectors. He claims the GT is everything you need, just not for diving. I cant wait to get it, although, my Garret Sea Hunter Mark II is rocking and rolling after finding some gold last three weeks.

I've owned both for beach hunting. The DFX is out of its element on the wet salty beach. Its depth is not good, and discrimination is poor. On dry land the DFX has very good discrimination and good depth.

The Sovereign has excellent depth in wet salty beach, while the discrimination isn't as fine as DFX on dry land, its more than adequate for wet sand.

Go for the Soverign !!!
